The main objective of this research is to develop a Smart Card-Based Attendance System for Automated Time and Class Management for the College of Computer Studies of Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel, Inc. The institution currently experiences challenges in monitoring attendance using traditional manual methods, which may result in inaccurate records, time-consuming attendance checking, data redundancy, and difficulty in managing student and faculty attendance across different class schedules. These concerns may affect the efficiency of academic operations and proper monitoring of attendance records. With the knowledge of software development, the researchers developed an automated attendance system through the use of smart card technology that may help improve the attendance monitoring process of the College of Computer Studies. The system is featured with a login page, registration page, student and professor attendance monitoring, class schedule management, smart card scanning, and an automated report generation module where attendance records are stored, monitored, and managed in real time. Through the use of smart cards, students and professors may record their attendance accurately and efficiently while reducing manual errors and unauthorized attendance entries. A Descriptive Developmental Method of research is used, making use of face-to-face survey questionnaires and actual system demonstrations to collect data from the respondents, specifically the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students of the College of Computer Studies. During the demonstration, the respondents were introduced to the features and functions of the developed system to gather feedback regarding its performance, usability, and overall effectiveness. The developed system is guided using the Software Quality Characteristics and Attributes, also known as ISO 9126. The system was evaluated using the following key characteristics: functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. Based on the evaluation conducted among 30 respondents, the system obtained an overall grand mean of 4.29 (Agree), indicating that the developed Smart Card-Based Attendance System is functional, reliable, secure, efficient, and acceptable for implementation in the College of Computer Studies of Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel, Inc.
